A Newari bronze water storage jar that was used for keeping water in the home. (The Newars* were the original inhabitants of the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal and have both a rich history and cultural heritage. Their culture is distinct from other Nepali groups, and although they speak Nepalese they also have their own distinct language, and practice both Buddhism and Hinduism.)
This jar was collected in Nepal from a Newari family in Kathmandu during the early 1970’s with only the one owner since. It is in very good condition.
