CIRCA: 3rd Qtr, 20th century
Made from white porcelain, these polar bear cub figurines were made at the Imperial Russian Lomonosov Porcelain Factory in St. Petersburg and is stamped on the underside with the Lomonosov company logo, and ‘Made in U S S R’. [The Lomonosov Imperial Porcelain Factory was founded in St. Petersburg – then Petrograd – in 1744 under the decree of Peter the Great’s daughter, Empress Elizabeth. It was the first porcelain company in Russia and the third in all of Europe.] The colour (on the eyes and noes) was hand painted at the factory and both figurines are in excellent condition.
