TYPE: Matched pair of Double Dragon carpets
CIRCA: early 1900’s
A rare matched pair of double dragon khaden type rugs from Tibet featuring a sparse uncluttered design, each with two five clawed dragons in clouds chasing a flaming pearl on a glossy dark brown wool background. Made sometime in the ealry 1900’s, both are bordered with red covered felt edging and backed by plain heavy duty cloth in the typical Tibetan fashion, and the sizes are approximately 163cm x 82cm and 165cm x 85cm. They have been in a private collection since circa 1975 and this is the first time the have been on the market. Both are in excellent condition with no apparent repairs or reweaves.
