A matching pair of khaden size Inner Mongolian carpets with an overall floral design. Floating at the very center of each in a black center field is a small flower encased by a mandala shaped ‘border’ inside a stylised floral roundel. Either side of this design are two individual rose coloured flowers on a leafy stem, with blue flowers towards the bottom of each array, with a floral design anchoring each of the four corners. The inner red border is of pearls while the main border features an interlocked floral design. The narrow outer red border is of cloth covered felt, common on carpets used in Tibet from where these came when purchased in Kathmandu in the early 1970’s. Made circa the early 1900’s, the sizes are approximately 180cm x 90cm each, they have cotton warp and weft, full pile and excellent fast colours. All in all a beautiful pair of matching carpets.
