A rich lustrous carpet from the Baotou-Suiyuan region of China with a floral central design. The contrast between the main border background reddish-orange colour and the main filed red sets the overall design off nicely. Rich strong fast colours make for a stunning lustrous colour change when the carpet is viewed from the opposite end (as the light falls at different angle on the pile ends). There is a small very old restoration that can hardly be discerned in the right hand floral arrangement of the center-medallion.
