TYPE: Kurdish mafrash ‘panel’ – SOLD

CIRCA: 1900

An exquisite Kurdish pile-woven mafrash ‘panel’ (or ‘bag-face’) –  from the far North West of Persia (Iran) or the far southern Caucasus – with a double medallion design in the center with multiple borders surrounding, and a wide strip of octagonal designs across the bottom that itself is fringed with a narrow kilim (pile-less) strip across the bottom. This is almost certainly a front panel from a bedding or storage bag. It has medium to low pile and even wear throughout and has been professionally washed. All natural dyes, made circa 1900 or before. A fantastic piece! ALREADY SOLD
