TYPE: Turkoman (Chodor?) torba panel with wool and cotton pile

CIRCA:  1800’s / 19th C.

The front panel / face of an unusually shaped 19th century Turkoman (Chodor?) torba, or storage ‘bag’, that has a pile of lovely shiny wool and undyed cotton (all the white areas) on what appears to be a goat or camel hair foundation (i.e. warp and weft). The larger ‘gols’ all feature the rams horn motif and the extensive use of the pure white cotton makes the well balanced design really come to life. Made at sometime in the 1800’s, it has all natural dyes, the size is 125cm x 45cm and it is in good condition with even wear throughout.
