An elegant but subtle two-toned naturally dyed Tibetan seating carpet. A simple turquoise coloured ‘T’ border encases an uncomplicated dark blue central field set with turquoise rosettes, or roundels. It has good pile with a subtle abrash, and a cotton warp and hand-spun wool and hair weft. Of interest is that a red coloured wool has been used in parts – but not throughout – for the double wefting alongside the ‘normal’ singled tone wool, a not often seen deviance to the norm. It was made circa 1920 and is in very good condition.
